For your consideration, I am pleased to offer for sale this first-generation (circa 1997) Waterman Phileas Fountain Pen in the striking Green Marble pattern. This example is Brand New, New Old Stock, and remains in Mint, never-inked condition, exactly as it left the factory.

The Waterman Phileas takes its name from Phileas Fogg, the iconic protagonist of Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days. Though long discontinued, the Phileas remains one of Waterman’s most beloved modern designs, admired for its Art Deco influence and timeless elegance. This first-generation model, identifiable by the gold-plated ribbon at the base of the barrel, was produced between 1995 and 1997 and is especially sought after by collectors.

The pen features a gold-plated Waterman clip bearing the classic Waterman hexagon seal, flowing gracefully from the top of the cap to the cap band. A black crown tops the cap, while a gold-plated ring at the end of the barrel—reminiscent of an engraved cigar band—adds a refined finishing touch. The barrel and cap display rich green and black marbled resin, polished to a high gloss. There are no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, monograms, or personalizations. The friction-fit cap secures firmly to the barrel, as designed.

The pen measures 5 3/8 inches capped and 5 3/4 inches posted.

The cap is stamped “WATERMAN – FRANCE” just below the cap band. All gold-plated trim is pristine, showing no wear and retaining a bright, lustrous finish.

The filling system accepts Waterman ink cartridges or a converter. Included are a never-inked Waterman converter with a 1.04 ml ink capacity, along with one Waterman ink cartridge.

The nib is a wide, two-tone gold-plated and steel nib, beautifully engraved in an Art Deco style. The nib face is stamped Waterman, Paris, along with the nib point designation. For this listing, I have nine Waterman Phileas pens in this Green Marble color, available in the following nib sizes:

  • Fine
  • Medium

Each pen comes complete with the original Waterman box, ink converter, ink cartridge, and Waterman literature.

This Waterman Phileas Fountain Pen is best described as Mint, New Old Stock, in the original box, and never inked. A classic Art Deco design brought into modern times, the Phileas remains a standout writing instrument and a wonderful addition to any serious writing or fountain pen collection.
