For your consideration, we are pleased to present for sale a truly exceptional example of the Circa 1968 Sheaffer Stylist 777 fountain pen in the 12K Gold-Filled Lined pattern—offered in Mint, New Old Stock, Never Inked condition and retaining its original factory price sticker on the cap and button filler mechanism.

Introduced in 1966 and discontinued by 1969, the Stylist line marked a distinctive chapter in Sheaffer’s history, pairing sleek mid-century design with the celebrated Triumph conical nib. Surviving examples in this level of preservation are increasingly scarce—particularly in gold-filled trim and with original sticker intact.

This Model 777 presents beautifully. The 12K gold-filled lined cap and barrel remain crisp and radiant, free from dings, dents, brassing, wear-through, or repairs. The cap secures with a precise friction fit, as designed. The cap lip is clearly stamped, “12K G.F. SHEAFFER’S U.S.A.” The gold-filled clip proudly carries Sheaffer’s White Dot, symbolizing the company’s lifetime guarantee. The original cap sticker remains affixed and reads, “SHEAFFER 777 FINE $15.00,” a remarkable surviving detail that immediately elevates this pen into collector-grade territory. There are no monograms or personalizations.

The pen measures approximately 5 1/2 inches capped and 5 7/8 inches posted, with a reassuring weight of 0.73 ounces—substantial without feeling heavy, and perfectly balanced in hand.

This example has been carefully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled to ensure proper function while preserving its untouched status. The original button-filling system remains intact and operates exactly as it should. Finding a Stylist 777 with its correct original button filler—particularly one that has not been replaced—is increasingly difficult.

The pen is fitted with Sheaffer’s iconic 14K Triumph conical nib, designated Fine and measuring approximately 0.56mm when checked with digital calipers. True to its New Old Stock designation, the nib has never been inked. Triumph nibs are admired for their durability, smoothness, and clean, controlled writing character—hallmarks that have made them enduring favorites among collectors and writers alike.

The 12K Gold-Filled version of the Stylist 777 is far more elusive than its lacquered counterparts, and examples that remain stickered, never inked, and free from wear are genuinely scarce. For the Sheaffer enthusiast or vintage collector seeking a time-capsule specimen from the late 1960s, this pen represents an outstanding opportunity.

Whether preserved as a pristine addition to a serious collection or eventually brought into service as a refined daily writer, this Sheaffer Stylist 777 stands as a beautiful example of American craftsmanship—elegant, rare, and increasingly sought after in this condition.
