This pen has been taken apart, cleaned, piston greased, put back together, and back in wonderful writing condition. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe barrel and cap are gorgeous with a beautiful barrel in the Green Striped color, polished with a high shine. There are absolutely no nicks, chips, cracks, or repairs to this fountain pen. The cap of this fountain pen displays the gold-plated clip and cap band. The cap is stamped with, \"PELIKAN - W. GERMANY\". The cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Pelikan M400 is the \"Old Style\" two chicks logo that was manufactured in West Germany which will date the fountain pen \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003ebetween 1985 to 1990. This Pelikan M400 measures 4 7\/8\" inches in length capped and 5 3\/4\" inches posted. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis Pelikan M400 features Gold plated trim to the cap and is all highly polished.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Piston Filler works with such ease and perfectly in my tests with water. \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eThis Pelikan has fabulous barrel clarity and water clear.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe NIB is 14C - 585 solid gold medium point measuring at .68mm when using a digital caliper.  I have tested this Pelikan to perform a writing sample, which will write with a fine line of .49mm on the horizontal strokes and flex to 1.15mm on the widest stroke under medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The nib is \"springy\" and buttery smooth - it is a fabulous nib to write with. I used Montblanc Blue Ink when creating the writing sample.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis is a beautiful Pelikan M400 in Green Striped barrel and the black cap is clean as a whistle.
