This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition. \u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the old rubber with a sac. Hand polished the Long Round Ball Humped Clip, Gold Filled Cap Band, and Sheaffer14K NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen. This Sheaffer Balance is an Oversize, which measures 5 5\/8\" in length capped and 6 1\/2\" posted. \u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e This fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has the Long Round Ball Humped Gold Filled Clip, which dates this style pen to 1931 to 1932. There is very minor brassing to the end of the ball on the clip. The Gold Filled Cap Band has very minor brassing lower edge. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, \"W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co, Fort Madison, Iowa. U.S.A., PAT. D-78,795\". The color is very good on this pen but is not MINT. The barrel is a shade darker than the cap.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe 14K Sheaffer Lifetime NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .74mm, measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a medium line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures between .60mm and .72mm with digital calipers. This NIB is ridged, with no real flex. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. \u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis is a great writing vintage Oversize Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen. While the color is not perfect it is fair. This would be a great pen to use for everyday writing.
